Shillong, Feb 5: Four industries in Byrnihat’s industrial estate have claimed that they are paying the pending and current amount of electricity bills whereas the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) stated that no such payments have been made.
During a hearing in the Meghalaya High Court today, Kaustav Paul who is the lawyer for the industries told the division bench of the High Court that the arrears and current electricity bills are being paid regularly.
However, Advocate General of Meghalaya Amit Kumar informed the court that neither the arrears nor the current power bills are being paid by the industries.
The High Court has directed the four industrial units to file an affidavit at the next hearing on February 10 with details and proofs about the payments made by them on the pending and current electricity bills.
