To create awareness on the Do’s and Don’ts during elections, a programme was organised for residents of 15 villages in West Jaiñtia Hills district.
The programme was organised by the All Jaiñtia Muster Roll Workers and Labour Union in collaboration with the All Jaiñtia Mid Day Meal Workers Union at Ïooksi Iapkhla under the theme, “Do what is right today, will hold on to it, for the welfare of tomorrow and the generation to come”.
Residents of Raliang, Pyntei, Sarhen, Biar, Nongryngkoh, Rtiang Khonshnong, Iooksi, Lakadong, Pohkseh Priang, Umdeinling, Saphai, Iawthymmei, Umsalait, Psiar Kharkatsla participated in the programme.
Adviser of the unions, Khroo L. Pariat who attended the programme, urged workers and labourers to avoid political campaigns during the elections and emphasised on the impacts of corruption. He said corruption is a disease and people should avoid accepting money during the elections.
Pariat also spoke on the benefits provided by the labour department and rights of citizens.
