The corporate social responsibility arm of Indus Towers Ltd, in association with non-profit organisation Shishu Sarothi, has announced that scholarships for 180 North East students with disabilities are available for 2023-24.
These scholarships will be given to eligible candidates who are pursuing academics/professional courses at levels ranging from higher secondary to post-graduation or vocational/skill-building courses. Additionally, young graduates who are preparing for bank/government jobs or civil service examinations can also apply for the scholarship. Of the 180 scholarships, a few are also reserved for exceptional students from outside the North East region studying in institutions recognised by the central government.
Selected students will be provided with support such as study materials, assistive equipment and devices, conveyance allowance and hostel fees to facilitate and motivate them to complete their chosen courses.
The scholarship programme was launched in 2016 with the objective of encouraging and supporting students with disability and has since supported 644 students with disability to pursue higher education so far. Additionally, career counseling sessions, rights awareness programs are conducted for the scholars in each state, to motivate and inspire them in their educational pursuits and journey of economic empowerment.
Online and offline applications began on June 21 and will close on August 21. Details about the scholarship are available on www.ssscholarship.org.
