President Droupadi Murmu has commended the Northeast Handlooms and Handicrafts Development Corporation (NEHHDC) for its significant role in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Northeast.
The President was speaking at a gratification ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, which was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDONER) and representatives from Rashtrapati Bhavan.
President Murmu praised the NEHHDC for promoting the Northeast’s culture, especially its handloom products, handicrafts, and traditional skills. She highlighted its role in events like the Vividhta Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav in 2024, which celebrated the region’s diversity and strengthened its ties with the rest of India.
In addition to these prominent events, the NEHHDC continued its cultural initiatives with the successful Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav, held from December 6–8, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
“It is our collective responsibility to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of our country. The folk dances, music, art, and traditional attire of the North-Eastern states are the heritage of our entire nation,” the President said.
