The Khasi Jaiñtia Presbyterian Assembly has denied allegations made by a group with extreme right-wing Hindutva connections that the church is inciting hatred against non-indigenous people in Meghalaya.
In a tweet today the Legal Rights Observatory, which hides its extremist Hindu agenda behind an innocuous-sounding name, said that the Khasi Students Union (KSU) members who had put up Ichamati-related banners in the city yesterday were “misguided” due to hatemongering by the Presbyterian Church. The tweet also claimed, bizarrely, that the church has “Scottish masters”.
Rev P Hynniewta, Senior Administrative Secretary of the Khasi Jaiñtia Presbyterian Church, said today that the allegations are baseless and without a shred of truth.
Rev Hynniewta said that the Presbyterian Church preaches for love and brotherhood among all sections of society and condemns any expressions of hatred.
