A woman sustained severe injuries this morning around 8am while she was on her way to work at Umroi Airport.
Reports indicate that she was suddenly attacked by an assailant who used a sharp weapon against her.
The victim, who is pregnant, works at Umroi Airport and lives in a rented house at Umroi Nongrah village. While she was heading to work, the attacker unexpectedly ambushed her before she could reach her workplace and she was brutally assaulted. The perpetrator fled the scene immediately after injuring her.
It was also informed that upon learning of the incident, officers from the Khapmara police investigation centre promptly arrived at the scene to investigate. The injured woman was rushed to Bhoirymbong Community Health Centre for urgent medical treatment.
Police are yet to determine the motive behind the attack.
