The portal is a first of its kind wherein database of exporters and importers of both Northeast India and Bangladesh is uploaded, that would enable B2B collaboration between buyers and sellers of both counterparts and also allow business dealings and negotiations among the two sides.

Dr. Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur, Assistant High Commissioner, Bangladesh High Commission, Guwahati said that Northeast India is the Scotland of India in terms of natural beauty and natural resources.

He mentioned that India Bangladesh bilateral trade statistics amounts to 10 billion dollars per annum, but Northeast India contributes only 1 per cent of this trade statistics which includes traditional items like coal, vegetables, limestone, tea etc. He highlighted the potential of other items like handloom and handicrafts and muga silk.

He informed that the portal would be maintained and upgraded by ICC for the development of trade between business to business entities. The portal would contain details of products, buyer seller details include contact details and enable business transactions between the two portals through proper utilisation of the portal.

Ishantor Sobhapandit, Regional Director, Indian Chamber of Commerce highlighted that the portal would give a unique experience of business dealings to the exporters and importers of both the countries. He iterated about the use of the Chittagong port for business transactions between the two countries while utilising the advantages of the portal.
