The A’chik Progressive Approach (APA) has called on the state authorities to upgrade what it describes as Williamnagar’s “most embarrassing bridge”.
Situated in the heart of the East Garo Hills district headquarters, the bridge is so narrow that simultaneous two-way traffic is impossible, leading to long queues of vehicles wanting to cross.
APA said that the bridge might have been around since the 19th century and has been used by every MLA, MDC, civil servants and even the Chief Minister and local MP when visiting Williamnagar but has never been upgraded.
