Cabinet minister Kyrmen Shylla today handed over a new ambulance to cater to patients at Pamrapaithlu PHC under Wapung Block, East Jaintia Hills.
The ambulance was procured under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Scheme for the year 2024-2025.
Addressing the gathering, Shylla commended Deputy Commissioner Shivansh Awasthi and the stakeholders particularly who have worked tirelessly in securing funds to address the health care needs of the people of the area.
Shylla said the government is committed to provide the best available services to address the health care needs of the people and further called for collaborative efforts of all concerned stakeholders. He urged PHC officials to properly utilise the ambulance in order to ensure its longevity and effectiveness with regards to conveyance of patients.
In relation to the petition made by the Synjuk Dorbar Shnong Pamrapaithlu PHC seeking upgradation of the PHC to CHC level, Shylla stated that he will take up the matter with the Health Minister and the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner expressed hope that the ambulance will provide optimum services to the people of the area while also taking the occasion to emphasise on the importance of institutional delivery in order to reduce maternal mortality rate. Further, he also pointed out that providing better facilities is one way to encourage people to come to PHCs.
Shylla also inspected the office of the Block Development Officer, Wapung C&RD Block whose construction is nearing completion.
