The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Meghalaya, in coordination with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, conducted a programme for Meri Mati Mera Desh yesterday.
NYKS has been collecting soil from around Meghalaya as part of the nationwide programme to honour those who have laid down their lives for the country.
The soil was collected in Shillong and will now be on its way to New Delhi.
The chief guest at the programme was Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs SC Sadhu and Director Isawanda Laloo was the guest of honour.
The ‘Amrut Kalash’ was handed over by Sadhu to the team leader, who will convey the state’s soil to New Delhi on October 25 accompanied by representatives of different blocks in the state.
