Nongpoh Civil Hospital today held a special event to commemorate the valuable service of nurses on the occasion of International Nurses Day 2025 under the theme ‘Our Nurses, Our Future – Caring for Nurses, Strengthen Economies’.
The programme was held with Medical Superintendent Dr D Blah attending as the chief guest. Also present were Nursing Superintendent Danilla T Sangma along with nursing sisters and brothers in charge, staff nurses and student nurses from the GNM Nursing School, Pahamsyiem.
The event began with the unveiling of a portrait of Florence Nightingale, the inspiring pioneer of modern nursing. As part of the celebration, awards were also distributed to winners and participants of various activities conducted during Nurses Week.
Meanwhile, the West Jaintia Hills unit of the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) celebrated Nurses Day at Northeast Adventist University, Khliehtyrshi, Jowai.
Present at the celebration were Chief Judicial Magistrate Darry Gretta Kharshiing, Thadlaskein Block Development Officer Dr Heimonmi Niang, Principal School of Nursing Pahamsyiem Larista Dohling.
At the event TNAI presented mementos of appreciation to retired nurses in recognition of their dedicated service.
