At a time when practically every politician is looking to have his or her words reported on in the media, the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate for the Umroi race in the upcoming February 27 election was having none of it as he pointedly refused to answer the questions of reporters today.
Damanbait Lamare, who will be fighting for the Umroi seat, declined to speak to the eager media despite repeated requests. He and four other NPP members filed their nominations for their respective constituencies today.
Lamare is the son of Ngaitlang Dhar, the former Umroi MLA. Outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where the candidates had to file their papers, the media waited to interact with the five but, while four of them were happy to, Lamare was steadfast in his refusal and got away as soon as possible.
