Shillong, Apr 6: National People’s Party (NPP) president and Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K. Sangma today addressed an election rally at Bamunigaon under the 28–Boko Chaygaon (ST) constituency in Assam, seeking support for party candidate Ganseng B. Sangma.

During his address, Sangma emphasised the importance of the upcoming election in Assam, referring to it as a defining moment for regional unity. “This election is the voice of the Northeast, a voice that will resonate from Boko-Chaygaon,” he stated.

He highlighted the NPP’s commitment to expanding its reach and fulfilling the vision of its founder, P.A. Sangma.

Sangma criticised the divisive politics of national parties, urging voters to support the NPP, a regional force focused on inclusive growth. He recalled his father’s legacy of grassroots commitment and shared hopes that the dream of uniting diverse communities under one platform is steadily becoming a reality.

He urged constituents to back Ganseng B. Sangma, referring to him as a sincere leader committed to serving the people. “If Ganseng becomes MLA, it will mark a new dawn for the NPP in Assam,” he added.

Other prominent leaders who addressed the rally included Meghalaya’s senior MLA and former speaker and minister A.T Mondal, Vice President Hemochandra Singh and MLA from Manipur Rameshwar Singh.

MLAs who attended included Sanjay Sangma, Marthon Sangma, Pongseng Marak, Rupert Momin, and Jim Sangma. All speakers reiterated the vision of a strong and united Northeast and called for a decisive mandate in favour of the party.

In his brief address,  candidate Ganseng B. Sangma pledged dedicated service to the people, stating, “I speak for one minute but work for twenty.”
