The National People’s Party (NPP) has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming district council elections, which includes 47 names.
The list consists of 18 candidates for the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and 29 candidates for the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
Altogether 21 MDCs from both the KHADC and JHADC will run the elections, which also included the current chief executive members, Pyniaid Sing Syiem and Thombor Shiwat.
However, the KHADC chief and Sohryngkham MDC will now run from Nongthymmai constituency.
Rambrai-Jyrngam MDC Bajop Pyngrope has been replaced by former MLA Kimfa S Marbaniang.
The NPP has also included three women candidates for the KHADC in sitting MDC Grace Mary Kharpuri who will contest Nongshken, Macdalyne S Mawlong for Umsning and former MDC Rona Khymdeit for Nongpoh constituency.
Other KHADC MDCs includes Rangkynsai Kharbuki from Umroi, Alvin K from Mawsynram, Fantin J Lakadong from Laitumkhrah-Malki, Lamphrang Blah from Mawphlang-Diengiei, Batskhem Ryntathiang from Mairang-Nongkhlaw, and Carnes Sohshang from Mawkyrwat.
The JHADC sitting MDCs in the list are Holando Lamin from War Central, Het Pohthmi from War West, Lakhon Dkhar from Amwi-Khliehtyrshi, Ailad Bhoi from Mukhla-Ummulong, Jesse Suiam from Moodymmai-Nongkhroh, Eneningstar Teron from Mynso-Nongjngi, Rudaioo Tang from Shilliang Myntang, Aiborlang Shadap from Barato-Mukroh, Phasmon Dkhar from Musniang-Rngad and Hambertus Nongtdu from Sutnga-Nongkhlieh.
