The State cabinet today approved the appointment of former IPS officer Heimonlang Nongpluh, as non-judicial member of Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC).
His appointment follows the retirement of MHRC non-judicial member Peter J P Hanaman.
According to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, the selection committee headed by the chief minister had proposed the name of Nongpluh as the new non-judicial member in the MHRC.
He also informed that the cabinet has also approved the recommendation of a committee headed by the chief secretary for appointment of Lt Col Sebastian Marbaniang as Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer, Shillong.
