The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills has informed that the Padma Awards – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri – will be announced on the occasion of the Republic Day 2026.
The awards recognise work of any distinction and are given for distinguished and exceptional achievements/services in all fields of disciplines such as art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and industry, etc. All persons without any distinction of race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for these awards.
Individuals from East Khasi Hills who desire their names to be recommended to the government for the awards are requested to send their nominations to the DC’s office on or before June 20. Detailed information may be downloaded from the district website eastkhasihills.gov.in.
