Former Umroi legislator George B Lyngdoh ruled out any intention to contest the Lok Sabha election but has left the decision to be taken by the Trinamool Congress.
“From my side I never had that intent so we will see how the party will decide on it,” Lyngdoh said.
Party president Charles Pyngrope is in favour of Lyngdoh contesting the Lok Sabha election from Shillong seat. While the matter is yet to be discussed with the party high command, the TMC president had already spoken to the general secretary in-charge Manas Ranjan Bhunia that Lyngdoh is a “very good candidate.”
It may be mentioned that the Lok Sabha polls will be held early next year. So far only the Voice of the People Party (VPP) has announced the candidate for the Lok Sabha polls from Shillong seat. The party has named its general secretary Ricky A J Syngkon as the candidate for the polls.
The BJP on the other hand has hinted that former police officer Mariahom Kharkrang may be the contender, while ruling NPP and UDP however said that they are in the process of identifying thec andidates.
