The Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project will get a second season that will be launched tomorrow by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma at Khyndailad here.
The idea behind the project was to nurture and promote local musicians, songwriters, composers and back-end event firms and technical vendors.
Sangma will be joined at the launch by Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh; both are known to be keen musicians.
According to a press release, around 1,600 performers were given opportunities to perform at cafes, busking areas and at special events over the course of the last 10 months as part of the project, which has organised around 3,000 music events, the majority of which have been in Shillong but which have also taken in Tura, Jowai and Sohra.
