The new Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan, will be sworn in at a ceremony on Saturday evening at Raj Bhavan here.
Chauhan, a former MLA in his native Uttar Pradesh and ex-Governor of Bihar, replaces Brig (retd) BD Mishra, who has been moved to the Union territory of Ladakh as Lt Governor.
Chauhan will have a very important role to play during the formation of the next state government following the February 27 Assembly election, the results of which will be announced on March 2.
