Shillong, Apr 17: In a bid to better link the existing Shillong city with the New Shillong Township, the state government has planned a four-lane road from Polo to the NST.
Informing this, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that the proposed four-lane road will start from near the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp at Polo, pass through Mylliem Forest Reserve and link up to Bellefont, Mawpat and end at the new Secretariat in the NST.
The process of land acquisition has nearly been completed, with multiple rounds of talks with landowning individuals and agencies having taken place.
“Just one or two are left and these will not be a major challenge as, more or less, there is an understanding and we just have to finalise the details,” Sangma said.
