A vendor was brutally stabbed to death in broad daylight by his nephew following a dispute over betelnut business in Tura, West Garo Hills today.
The deceased Jaha Uddin of Singimari, Assam and his nephew Minurul Islam of Hajirhat, Assam were involved in a heated verbal exchange that escalated into a physical fight.
Islam attacked his uncle with a dao as he collapsed holding his stomach in front of the crowd.
Uddin, a temporary resident of Risipara in Tura, was rushed to the nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Police said the incident happened around 11:25 am. The nephew was immediately arrested.
