Editor,
This is for the sake of candidates from Meghalaya. The NEIGRIHMS Director has once again irked the youth of the State who are candidates for various posts in the recent recruitment advertisement made by NEIGRIHMS. Just like in the Nursing Recruitment, candidates from the State have to go out to other states like Guwahati, Jorhat and New Delhi to appear for the recruitment exam inspite of the fact that the institute is based in Shillong.
The delegations from the KSU went and met the NEIGRIHMS Director on this matter but it seems like the Director is taking KSU and youth for a ride. Last time when approached, he said that he would take into consideration that candidates from Meghalaya should not have to go to other states yet the same thing is happening again. To say that the agency is responsible for centres is to admit that he is incompetent at being the head of the Institute. He has the authority and final say in such matters.
The NEIGRIHMS Director needs to be reminded that recruitment organisations like SSC, IBPS, ICAR, SBI etc, had in the recent past successfully conducted recruitment exams for thousands of candidates in the State without making them appear in other states. There are plenty of centres capable of providing CBTs if given the proper date in advance. If the Director felt that Meghalaya lacks computer centres he could have opted for OMR test which the NEIGRIHMS had been doing all this time which also brought credit to the institute for being quite transparent.
Another point is that this recruitment is being done in such a hurried manner which begs the question – Is there an ulterior motive by NEIGRIHMS? Maybe it’s because it wants to avoid objections from various NGOs knowing that they will always be for the welfare of the locals – one can only wonder.
Whatever the motive is, it’s clear to see that the incumbent Director of NEIGRIHMS is not willing to serve the best interest of the people of the region.
