More than 200 contractual staff nurses working in North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) are set to lose their jobs as the officially recruited new replacements will take over from July 1.
Added to this misery, most of the posts would be lost to the local tribes as these recruitments are done under the Central Reservation policy which is Schedule Caste (SC)- 15 per cent, Other Backward Classes (OBC)-2, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)-10 per cent and Schedule Tribe (ST)- 7.5 per cent.
The recruitment was for 231 staff nurse, while a number of recruitments for other technical assistant etc posts were done under a call for applications given out in 2019. It is learnt that due to the pandemic the recruitment process could only be completed.
Under the 231 posts for staff nurse, the number of posts which went to the separate categories are thus, ST 17, SC 34, OBC 62 and EWS 23. The total posts thus lost to local tribes is 119.
The Unreserved (UR) category is 95 posts. It is learnt that many of these seats have been clinched by local applicants.
It is also learnt that most of the new staff nurses recruited are male nurses from Rajasthan and other states of the country.
