North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong has slipped to the 80th rank in the overall category of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023.
Out of 100 higher educational institutions that took part in the NIRF ranking, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has topped the university rankings. The second position is secured by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi while Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi is at number three.
In 2022, NEHU managed to stand at the 66th position when it slumped to the 90th rank in 2021.
The parameters for the rankings include Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, Perception.
In Teaching, Learning and Resources, NEHU scored 55.04 out of 100. In Research and Professional Practice it scored 19.00. Further, in Graduation Outcomes, the university scored 75.18. In Outreach and Inclusivity it scored 51.67 while in Perception, it scored 22.26.
Among the management institutes in the ranking, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong was ranked at the 26th spot. IIM Ahmedabad clocked the first position followed by IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode in second and third spots respectively.
In the parameters of Teaching, Learning and Resources, IIM Shillong scored 76.33. In Research and Professional Practice it scored 23.37. In Graduation Outcomes it scored 93.60, In Outreach and Inclusivity it scored 76.32 in Perception, it scored 28.64.
Among the engineering institutes in the NIRF ranking, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya was ranked 72nd. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras was placed in the top, followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay in the second and third positions respectively.
In Teaching, Learning and Resources, NIT Meghalaya scored 67.55. In Research and Professional Practice it scored 31.37. In Graduation Outcomes, the university scored 57.65. In Outreach and Inclusivity it scored 55.41 and in Perception, it scored only 5.22
