A 15-day workshop under the flagship NEEPCO Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) was conducted for 42 underprivileged children concluded today at the NEEPCO residential complex in Agartala.
The children under the age group of 10-12 years were nominated by the schools located at the vicinity of Agartala Gas Based Power Station of NEEPCO to participate in the multipronged life skill training.
The workshop is an initiative under the NEEPCO Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Scheme.
The life skill training and awareness sessions covered Yoga, Karate, Foundation Maths, Vedic Maths, English Language, computer operation, creative arts and crafts, personality development, public speaking and other sessions on health, hygiene, fire and safety, environmental consciousness, cyber crime, traffic rules and safety, gender issues, society and crime, prevention and protection from cyber crime, good and bad touch, child protection and rights, importance of girl child education, etc.
NEEPCO Agartala Head of Power Plant, J.L. Das said the workshop is commitment to the society apart from the company’s CSR works in the areas of rural development, promoting education, entrepreneurship skill development, health and sanitation.
He expressed joy that the company was able to reach out to few of the underprivileged children to groom them and teach them various life skill training which would definitely help them face life’s challenges head on.
