An awareness programme was conducted as part of the Nashamukt Bharat Yatra organised by the Kashiyana Foundation at the College of Post-Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences, Umiam today.
Varanasi-based Kashiyana Foundation is organising a nationwide anti-drugs movement to create awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
The Nashamukt Bharat Yatra commenced from Varanasi on January 24 and will culminate at Bodh Gaya on March 6.
Founder of Kashiyana, Sumeet Singh who interacted with the students and staff of the college said that drug addiction is a curse for humanity. He said before making India a world leader, it is important to make it drug-free.
Vice President of the organisation, Dr. Uttam Ojha said that the number of disabled people is increasing due to addiction. While addiction is affecting the human brain, it is also causing physical disorders and accidents are also taking place due to addiction.
Dean in-charge of the college, Dr. Noren Singh said that drug addiction in India is a conspiracy under an international conspiracy to ruin the youth of the country. “We can answer this only through such awareness tours,” he added.
