Shillong, Apr 12: Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, inaugurated the MY Bharat Budget Quest 2026 – North Eastern Region, covering the eight states of the North East, with Shillong being one of the 17 locations in the country.
The two-day event commenced today at the U Soso Tham Auditorium and will conclude on April 13.
This event brings together young minds who have progressed through a rigorous multi-stage national competition. They are now poised to engage in a historic two-day brainstorming session with academicians, industry leaders and subject experts, deliberating on themes aligned with the Union Budget 2026.
Over 15,000 youth across 17 locations, representing all states and Union territories, will participate nationwide.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by chief guest Mariahom Kharkrang, a retired senior police officer and politician, along with Dinobondhu Saha, Regional Director of MYBharat North-Eastern region, and other dignitaries.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a “Sundays on Cycle” bicycle rally, along with a Women’s Mock Parliament and Youth Parliament, focusing on Nari Shakti and the Women’s Reservation Bill.
