In an effort to champion the cause of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Shillong conducted a town hall event at Selsella, West Garo Hills, yesterday.
The event targeted the people engaged in cashew nut, cane and bamboo at Selsella. Around 200 MSME entrepreneurs converged to engage in discussions.
DFR Marak, GM of the DCIC West Garo Hills, sensitised the participants about the various schemes run by the state government for the development of the MSME sector. This was followed by a session led by Durgesh Pandey, Assistant Director, MSME-DFO, on various schemes run by the central government for the MSME sector. Senior officials from banks and Selsella R&D block also addressed the participants on various initiatives in the field of MSME and encouraged the existing as well as prospective entrepreneurs of the state.
Some of the local entrepreneurs shared their success stories to motivate budding entrepreneurs present at the meeting. The participants raised their doubts in connection with credit provided by banks, rate of interest charged in case of sponsored schemes, various schemes available in the banks and other government agencies, etc., which were clarified by the concerned officials.
