Shillong, Apr 24: Primrose Lamat was the star of Friday’s action in the 5th Meghalaya State League after the Khimusniang SC player scored six goals as his team demolished Umkaber SCC 11-2 in Group A at the SSA Stadium here today.

Primrose (16′, 19′, 24′, 38′, 73′, 79′) rocketed to joint Top Scorer of the season with seven goals, tied with Langsning FC’s Nelson Rymbai, who scored twice today. Dawanbiangmi Passah (42′), Alwin Dkhar (69′), Ravi Manar (80′) and Meroily Lytan (83′, 85′) were the other scorers for Khimusniang. They were leading 5-0 before Umkaber pulled two goals back through Pynkupbor Kharbteng (51’P) and Aidor Kharshiing (59′) but normal service was restored after that with Khimusniang scoring six more goals.

There was a major upset of sorts in Group H at Mawkyrwat where Rangdajied United FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Mawlarshong SC. RUFC are the first of the giant Shillong-based clubs not to win this year. Hopefullness Wanniang scored in the 18th minute before Gideon Mukhim (41′) equalised before half time for Rangdajied and there were no more goals in the game.

Other Shillong teams, however, won with ease. In Group A Nongkseh SSCC were 6-2 victors over Mawshun SCC. Sheen Sohktung (37′, 89′, 90’+4) registered a hat-trick of his own and there were also strikes by his Nongkseh team mates Hardy Cliff Nongbri (4′, 20′) and Chanmitre Thma (65′). Both of Mawshun’s goals were through Arkhangel Khongtyngkut (45’+1, 60).

In Amlarem, defending champions Mawlai SC defeated Laskein SCSC 4-1 in Group C. Syndongmiki Lyngdoh (32′), Danzel Derique Umdor (34′), Damanbhalang Chyne (41′) and Lovingstar Suting (70′) scored for Mawlai before Bundaki Lamare (85′) scored a consolation goal later on.

At Mairang, Langsning were 6-0 victors over Umlakro SC in Group F. Nelson Rymbai (77′, 87′) was introduced in the second half and scored his first goal three minutes after coming on. Samuel Phawa (35′), Kyrmenskhem Mukhim (52′), Donlad Diengdoh (71′) and Morningstar Khongkiang (90′) produced Langsning’s other goals.

In Group B, also in Shillong, Nangkiew Irat defeated Mawlum Tyrsad SCC 7-1. Neblejohn Lyngkhoi (9′, 12′, 42′) was the third player today to bag a treble, while Nikelson Bina (12′), Dibinroy Nongspung (71′) and substitute Justerwell Tham (82′, 84′) also got on the scoresheet for Nangkiew Irat, who failed to keep a clean sheet for the first time this season after Pherdinan Khongsit (90′) pulled off a lovely goal late in the day.

Group G, meanwhile, was thrown wide open after Attong Matgrik FC ended a three-game losing streak to edge second-placed Maram FC 2-1 in Williamnagar. Pilman Ch Marak (7’P) converted an early penalty and team mate Willang Jasrang G Momin (27′) doubled the lead 20 minutes later. Bris Taro (45′) reduced the deficit before half time but Maram could not find a way to pull themselves level and were consigned to defeat.

Finally, Khliehriat saw a battle between two Jaintia Hills clubs, with Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC of East Jaintia Hills blazing past West Jaintia rivals Ladthadlaboh SC 3-0 in Group D. Skilful Tariang (33′) and Hesmiki Rymbai (51′, 81′) were the scorers.

Tomorrow’s fixtures (all to kick off at 3pm):

Group A (Shillong SSA Stadium) – No match scheduled
