Shillong, Oct 31: The Jaintia Students Union (JSU) today met the Chairman of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission to discuss repeated dates clash in recruitment examinations conducted by the District Selection Committee (DSC) and the latter.
The most recent is the examination for the post of Gram Sevaks and Gram Sevikas on September 13 conducted by the DSC, which also coincides with an examination for the post of Junior Cooperative Officer under the Cooperation Department and Soil and Water Conservation Ranger (Overseer/Draughtsman-I) conducted by the commission.
During the meeting, the JSU expressed its concern over the manner in which the commission schedules recruitment examination dates and suggested that such overlaps should be avoided with better coordination.
According to the union, many aspiring candidates were unable to appear for examinations held in September, causing great inconvenience and disappointment.
“Proper coordination between the examination authorities — both the MPSC and all the DSCs — will help prevent such issues and ensure equal opportunities for all eligible candidates to appear in every examination without any clash of dates,” JSU Adviser A. Suchiang said.
