The Ri-Bhoi Students Union (RBSU) has expressed its frustration over the plight of SSA and deficit school teachers, who have not been paid their salaries for several months now.
The RBSU blamed the state government for this, questioning why it is able to pay other staff, including high-ranking bureaucrats every month yet finds it unable to pay the dues of teachers.
Teachers have held several protests over their pending salaries and to ignore them means that the government is imposing massive hurdles on the teaching staff, RBSU president Everjoy Nongpluh told reporters recently.
“The RBSU is very concerned to also learn that other state government departments have been loyal in disbursing salaries to their employees through the Budget Estimation Allocation and Monitoring System (BEAMS), but this system is not been maintained or conducted within the Education Department,” Nongpluh rued.
