A moderate quake, measuring 4 on the Richter scale, was recorded in East Garo Hills today but no loss of life and damage to property has been reported so far.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported that the tremor occurred at a depth of 10 km from the surface. It also said that the quake occurred 43 kilometres East-Northeast of Tura.
A tweet today morning by the National Center for Seismology read, “An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 occurred on 13-06-2022, 06:32:02 IST, Latitude: 25.68 and longitude: 90.60, Depth: 10 kilometres, Location: 43 km ENE of Tura, Meghalaya, India.”
