A 59 year old man suspected to be involved in a fraudulent investment scheme was arrested by Meghalaya police from Senha village in Jharkhand.
As per police investigation, the accused identified as Ibrahim Ansari is linked to a duping case reported on August 12, 2024.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said his arrest was based on a complaint filed at Rynjah Police Station that one Abhishek Kumar Yadav, who claims to be an assistant manager at KFC, had duped a person in a purported investment plan worth Rs 19. 27 lakhs.
The complainant who believed that the offer was legitimate had paid the first instalment on June 14. Then after, subsequent payments were made over the following weeks, with the last instalment paid on August 6 until it was discovered that Yadav was not affiliated to KFC, the SP said.
He said the case was registered in Rynjah Police Station and during the ongoing investigation it was found that Ansari was involved in the crime.
Nongtnger said investigation is still underway as efforts are one to nab other persons involved in the case.
