Shillong, Apr 25: A 27-year-old woman from Guwahati has been found safe in Shillong after being reported missing on Friday evening.
The woman, identified as Bhabana Sarma, was found near the State Bank of India premises in Polo area after bank staff noticed her in a distressed condition early in the morning and alerted the police.
Reports said that the woman went missing while travelling in a hired vehicle from her home in Tetelia to Azara. Just before losing contact, she sent a concerning message to her mother, indicating that she was in danger.
Shortly after her disappearance, she was spotted in Shillong at around 8:45 am today. She was immediately taken for medical examination to the Civil Hospital Shillong.
Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said that the woman is not in a condition to provide a detailed statement.
Assam police have been informed of the developments, and her family is currently en route to Shillong.
