An attempted robbery was reported at the State Bank of India (SBI) ICAR Umiam branch in Ri-Bhoi today.
The incident occurred around midnight when unknown miscreants forcibly entered the bank located in the ICAR campus.
According to reports, the miscreants took advantage of the dark to break the grill of the bank’s back door. However, their attempt to loot the bank was thwarted as they failed to open the drawer where the money was stored.
The incident came to light today morning when the branch staff arrived at the office and discovered the break-in. They immediately informed the police in Umiam police station, who promptly arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. The Crime Branch was also called in to assist with the investigation.
