The Meghalaya government has released a revised schedule of minimum wages, including variable dearness allowance (VDA), payable to employees backdated to October 1.
Daily wages are now Rs 480 for highly skilled labourers, Rs 435 for skilled labourers, Rs 389 for semi-skilled labourers and Rs 343 for unskilled labourers, a statement by the Labour Department said today.
The last hike in minimum wages was done in 2017.
The sectors covered include agriculture, animal husbandry, bakeries, construction of roads and building operation, fruit preservation, motor workshops, sericulture and weaving and saw mills, among others.
