A one day seminar on ‘Millet Cultivation and Livelihood Intervention’ was held today by the KVK West Khasi Hills in collaboration with the Babu Dham Trust, an organisation that works with the poor, Dalits, minorities and women.
The programme was attended by 42 farmers of Mawroh, Mowkohngei, Peinlang Domkseh and Nongshillong villages in Eastern West Khasi Hills.
Subject matter specialist EK Marbaniang highlighted the significance and importance of promoting and popularising millet cultivation among farmers in the face of climate change. A technical session by experts of KVK was also conducted where Subject matter specialist MR Marak delivered a lecture on the salient features and the package of practice of millet, followed by a speech on the nutritional benefits of millet by farm manager H Sungoh.
