Shillong, Jan 6: Twenty-five youths from Meghalaya have been selected to represent the state at the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2026, a key component of the 29th National Youth Festival, happening from January 9-12, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
These young leaders were chosen from over 50 lakh entries nationwide, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication.
On Tuesday, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, D.D. Shira, highlighted the core themes of Viksit Bharat, including Youth and Democracy, Governance in a Developed India, and Women-led Democracy.
Shira told reporters that this dialogue aims to empower young Indians to contribute to the country’s development and growth.
Bobby Wahlang praised the selection of Nishant Kumar Singh and Necharika Singh, NIT Shillong, who’ve developed a Smart Braille Watch for visually impaired individuals.
According to Wahlang their innovative project will be showcased at the national level, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and experts.
The selected youths will interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 11, 2026, marking a significant milestone in their leadership journey.
The Cultural Track will also showcase India’s rich heritage and youth power through various art forms.
