Meghalaya along with the rest of the North East states are set to witness intense rainfall in the coming days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate showers interspersed with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (64.5 mm-204.4 mm) is very likely over Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Sikkim, Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, during the next 3-4 days, with isolated heavy rainfall (64.5 mm-115.5 mm) thereafter.
In view of the intense rainfall forecasts, an orange alert (meaning ‘be prepared’) has been issued over Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Bihar until July 12.
