Shillong, Jun 14: Six major road infrastructure projects worth Rs 3,214 crore will be launched in Meghalaya on Monday during the North East India Infrastructure Summit & Exhibition (NEIINFRA 2026).
These projects will be launched by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, who is expected to attend the summit.
The projects include four new national highways and the upgrade of two existing highway corridors aimed at improving connectivity, reducing travel time and strengthening economic links across Meghalaya.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced through social media today that foundation stones will be laid for the projects during the summit, describing the investment as a major step towards accelerating the state’s development and prosperity.
The package includes the Rs 951 crore Tura Bypass, the Rs 737 crore Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge–Selsella highway stretch, the Rs 564 crore Pynursla Bypass and the Rs 504 crore Selsella-Goeragre Road. Upgrades to the Shillong-Dawki road and the Jowai Bypass will also be launched.
NEIINFRA 2026 will be a two-day event on June 15-16 and is expected to bring together policymakers, investors, infrastructure developers, financial institutions and technology firms from across the country.
The summit will also bring together officials from eight Union Ministries, Chief Ministers and senior officials from Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, industry leaders, investors, infrastructure developers, financial institutions and technology innovators to deliberate on the future of infrastructure-led growth in the North East.
The event is being organised by the Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) in partnership with the Meghalaya government and Build India Foundation. More than 800 delegates are expected to attend.
