Ri Bhoi police have apprehended an alleged drug peddler identified as Kaisikamo from Nagaland in the early hours today.
Acting on information suggesting his involvement in trafficking contraband, the Anti Narcotics Task Force team and personnel from the Byrnihat police station raided his residence and discovered 92.42 grams of heroin concealed in eight soap boxes.
Subsequent investigations also led to the arrest of two other suspects in an operation conducted by the East Khasi Hills Anti Narcotic Task Force team and police from Rynjah police station.
The arrested persons are Tilak Rai (32) of Nongmensong and R Gracy Hraveinai of Laipham Siphai in Imphal, Manipur.
Rai was identified as the intended receiver of the contraband, while Hraveinai was allegedly financing the operation.
The team also seized Rs 1, 04,000 in cash along with three mobile phones.
