The Press Council of India is leading the celebration nationwide of the National Press Day on November 16.
Deliberations on this day throughout the country will centre on the theme “Role of media during the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on media”.
Joining in the celebrations while keeping the prevailing situation in the State on account of the pandemic, the Shillong Press Club supported by Directorate of Information and Public Relations will organise a small gathering at Shillong Club (Residential) at 10 am tomorrow to deliberate briefly on the PCI prescribed theme and its relevance to journalism in Meghalaya. The gathering will strictly adhere to the protocols prescribed by the government.
The interaction which shall be graced by Information and Public Relations Minister James Sangma as chief guest is aimed at further equipping journalists with more knowledge on the subject as well as acquaint ourselves including the Information and Public Relations Department of the State on the ground realities and the state of affairs in the State viz-a-viz the media scenario presently.
The meeting will then be followed by participation as invited attendees to a Webinar on the prescribed theme to be hosted by the Press Council of India from New Delhi.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC), Shillong has accepted to facilitate the link to the Webinar which will be from 11am to 12:30 pm.
