Shillong, Aug 16: Meghalaya will be up against Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Nagaland in the Dr Talimeren Ao National Football Championship for Junior Girls (Tier 2) 2026-27 after the four teams were drawn together in Group C.
Meghalaya did not take part in the tournament in 2025 but did participate the year before that where they went out in the group stage.
The first of Meghalaya’s fixtures this year will take place on September 18 against J&K. They will then face Punjab on September 20 and Nagaland on September 22.
The squad list is expected to be released by the Meghalaya Football Association closer to the start of the competition. All of the Tier 2 matches will be held at Narainpur, Chhattisgarh.
Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, will host Tier 1 for the third straight season from September 10 to 25.
Tier 1 will feature 15 teams divided into three groups of four and one group of three. Tier 2 consists of 18 teams split into two groups of five and two groups of four. The group winners will progress to the semifinals.
Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, promoted from Tier 2 at the end of last season, will compete in Tier 1 in 2026-27, replacing Goa and Arunachal Pradesh, who were relegated and will compete in Tier 2 this season.
Manipur are the defending champions, having defeated West Bengal 9-0 in last year’s final in Anantapur.
