Two climbers of the Meghalaya Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Association (MeSCMA) have been nominated to attend a mountaineering course in Darjeeling to become instructors.
Teimiki Sungoh and Valarie Suchiang, both from Shangpung village in West Jaintia Hills, will attend the Methods of Instruction (MOI) in Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling that commenced today till May 25.
The gruelling training that prepares trainees to become instructors is being sponsored by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya.
Teaching or instructing will involve Lecture, Demo and Practice with detailed demonstration and theoretical knowledge in Registration & Rope Distribution, Physical Training, Rock Craft, Acclimatization, Snow Craft, Ice Craft, Height Gain & Survival Night, Theory, Written Test, Project and Diary Writing.
