Reiterating its stand for implementation of inner line permit (ILP) system in the State, the Khasi Students Union (KSU) today said the new government is responsible to ensure it is put in place.
Reminding the MDA 2 government of the resolution adopted in 10th assembly, KSU President Lambokstar Marngar said, “Now the same people and the same party (NPP) have come into. We have to ask them what they will do henceforth as they cannot wash their hands off the matter.
He also said that rumours are rife that the “same people who took decision on ILP are the same people who went to Delhi and say that ILP cannot materialise.”
“If these rumours turn out to be true we will reveal names of these people. Elected people’s representatives should not play politics with the issue concerning the jaitbynriew,” he warned.
KSU General Secretary, Donald V Thabah said that Meghalaya need to pursue this issue like the state of Manipur.
He said verbal inducements of taking up the ILP as priority whenever they visit to Delhi will not be accepted but the people need proof.
The KSU stated that it is willing to discuss railway projects in the State if the central government agrees to implement ILP.
