Mawsynram and its surrounding areas recorded over 204mm of rain in the 24 hours from 8:30am yesterday to 8:30am today, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Mawkyrwat, Mawphlang, Sohra and Pynursla were in the 130mm to 204mm band. Sohra’s figure alone was 190.8mm.
The rains brought temperatures down as well, with Shillong (23.2 deg C), Sohra (20.9 C) and Umiam (28.4 C), all registering lower than normal highs.
Some rain is expected tomorrow, with the IMD issuing a yellow alert across the whole of Meghalaya. Weather forecasts are fluid, however, and the IMD may change its advice when it issues a new update tomorrow.
