The court of the Special Judge (POCSO) in Khliehriat has sentenced a man to ten years rigorous imprisonment in the kidnap and sexual assault of a six-year old.
Binod Tamang committed the crime on June 6, 2018. The court in a verdict passed today convicted him under 363 IPC R/w Sec 5(m)/6 of POCSO Act, 2012 and imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 along with a compensation of Rs. 3 lakh for the victim.
East Jaiñtia Hills Additional SP informed that Tamang who was an acquaintance of the family had ran away after committing the crime.
He was arrested by WPI O. Tyngkan of Khliehriat Women police station and a case was immediately registered and the case was charge sheeted in due course of time.
