A man was sentenced to one-year simple imprisonment for peeping at a child while she was taking bath in a bathroom.
The Court of B. Joshi, Special Judge (POCSO), Mendipathar, North Garo Hills District in a judgment on June 13 convicted Mikseng B. Marak under Section 354 (C) of Indian Penal Code. He was directed to pay a fine of Rs 1000.
As per the FIR, on December 26, 2019 at around 4 pm, Mikseng peeped at the girl while she was taking a bath in the bathroom.
North Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Pawar Swapnil Vasantrao said the case was investigated by woman police sub inspector Bailine Sangma. After proper and diligent investigation of the case, chargesheet was submitted against the accused person with sufficient evidence of the case, he said.
Accordingly, the trial of the case took place wherein the guilt of the accused person is clearly established and the case is proved beyond reasonable doubt, the SP said.
