A man identified as Donbokstarlin Syiem Shangoi was found dead on the side of National Highway 44E at Jaidoh Kroh village in West Khasi Hills recently.
His body was found to have several lacerations to the head and face, with the skull of the victim smashed in by wooden log and then rock weighing up to 20kg; both were recovered from the spot.
The body of the man, who is aged around 30, was then taken to Nongstoin Civil Hospital for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, the suspect in the murder was apprehended in Nongspung village with help of locals. A case has been registered against him.
