The legal adviser of Hima Sohra, Wellborn Bynnud today alleged that he has documentary evidence which showed that trucks exporting limestone to Bangladesh through the Majai Land Custom Station do not pass through the weighbridges thus implying that they are overloaded.
“The road leading to the weighbridge has been (purposely) impeded by private vehicles,” Bynnud said at a press conference here today.
He also said that the Hima Sohra had met the Assistant Commissioner of Transport recently to complain against the failure of the employees of the department to check the weight of the trucks.
But according to him, the exporters in a meeting held on September 12 had accused him of exporting limestone into Bangladesh.
“I never spoke against the miners or the exporters, but surprisingly they accused me of being an exporter,” Bynnud said adding, “If they have proof they should come out with evidence else we will take another course.”
He also asked from where he takes limestone, the registration number of the vehicle or the challan he used.
Bynnud said that at the Umdud Bridge there is a signboard stating that vehicles passing through it cannot carry more than 12 tons.
He also said that in order to make sure that limestone export to Bangladesh through Majai Land Custom Station is being done in a transparent manner the matter should be investigated by the CBI, Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department.
